Carpathian Cottage Structure Kit

Transport yourself to the Carpathian Mountains with this delightful do-it-yourself, dollhouse miniature kit. From the intricately designed trim to the "painted" walls and stoves, this quarter scale kit offers more than just a miniature collector’s item—it’s a do-it-yourself project that lets you explore the unique culture of the region.

The setting for our miniature cottage is in the Carpathian Mountains—which form an arc across Central and Eastern Europe through Poland, Czechia, Slovakia, Ukraine, Hungary, and Romania. It’s a region rich in folk traditions; including architecture, handcrafts, food, music, dance, costumes, and storytelling.

Inspired by these traditions, the design of the house includes a unique front gable with flourishes of floral folk art. The designs are echoed on the gable in the back of the house. A balcony with double doors and brightly colored trim make the perfect spot to watch the sheepies. A colorful porch and a double door entryway welcome mini people into a cozy, 3-story abode. On the first floor, the lady of the house is baking bread in the built-in oven. Upstairs, a stove warms the bedroom area and makes a pleasant atmosphere for spinning wool. The attic is the perfect spot for the weaving loom and spinning stool.

This item is the structure kit and stoves only. The interior pieces are available as a full furnishings kit, as well as individual furniture kits. The LED lighting kit is available here.

The 1:48 (1/4 scale) structure kit is laser cut from MDF and wood, with precise tab and slot construction.

The structure kit includes:

• Unpainted, laser cut MDF walls, floors, and base
• Wood trim, including interior window and door trim
• The 1st floor stove with the entire wall assembly
• 2nd floor stove
• Pre-cut, diamond shape shingle strips
• 3D printed posts for the balcony and porch
• "Painted" ceiling beams on the first floor
• Original design wallpaper, flooring papers, stove artwork, and artwork for the exterior

• Complete, step-by-step instructions

The interior kits are available individually or as a full furnishings kit.

Size: the completed structure is 7-1/8"w x 4"d x 8-7/8"t (18cm w x 10cm d x 22.5cm t) with the front gable and porch.

LANDSCAPING

The flowers in the Carpathian Cottage scene are made by SDK Miniatures. Susan also offers them as kits. For the sample, I used black eyed susans, geraniums, and sunflowers.
